Sometimes I like to sit down and analyze how easily people are persuaded to believe things. It’s easy for me to observe almost daily as I’ve spent most of my working life as a salesperson.
Sometimes too I like to get on a soapbox and holler to no one in particular about my views.
Today I was shouting my views on Global Warming. Basically I feel its bullshit. Though there are many different theories and opinions as to what is most affecting the slight climate changes the planet is experiencing most every scientist agrees on one primary fact; that humans cannot possibly be the primary cause of our ecosystems rapid decline.
You disagree? I’m not surprised. The global warming scare is of greatest concern here in the United States. And why not? Our society is full of easily led sheep who believe anything that a charismatic snake oil salesperson tells them. Oh sure, Al Gore’s movie was an entertaining documentary – but too many of the theories within the film were not necessarily fact based.
Bullshit for example.

Seriously, genuine bullshit.
The movie mentioned that cattle are a leading contributor to global warming through the methane they create. That concern is now being played down, after the discovery by scientists at Britain's Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research that the beasts' breath contains dimethyl sulphide gas - a powerful anti-global warming agent.
So – bullshit is apparently not so bad.
Overt and fanatical environmental bullshit is. They’ve created hysteria on Capital Hill and throughout the land of followers with a constant media barrage of just how bad everything we do is for the planet, and the planet will soon die a horrible death because you drank two beers too many and farted.

Weather is highly variable, and the climate’s constant changes only reveal trends over long periods—but the global warming scare tactics have wrung $18 billion out of recent federal budgets for climate change research. Keep the “scare-now and hide the facts later” pattern of global warming news stories in mind in the future when the government finally taxes us all into financial ruin. Let’s see how concerned you are for the poor polar bears when you have to sell your blood to buy a loaf of bread.
Remember, too, that hundreds of research studies in recent decades have found a moderate, natural 1500-year climate cycle that explains the earth’s pre-industrial 0.5 degree C warming from 1950 to 1940, and may also explain much of the very modest 0.2 degree C net warming since 1940. If increased atmospheric CO2 has produced nothing more than 0.1 degree or so of warming in the last 65 years, we really need to rethink the whole global warming issue.
Just read as much as you can and don’t blindly believe what you’re told by the media and their latest hot topic. Don’t simply fall in line and follow, form your own decisions and beliefs. This country is already overloaded with people who blindly follow dangerous beliefs, which ultimately will probably spiral our world into inevitable destruction. That’s a fact. How else can you explain followers of American products like the Westboro Baptist Church, Crocs, or Dancing with the Stars?
Look, species come and go, sometimes many of them at a time, and humans are but one of them. Asteroids strike the Earth millions of years ago knocking out hundreds of primitive species. The Sun changes in intensity and proportions of different types of radiation. The Earth's magnetic field, which provides a shield from that radiation, reverses every 250,000 years or so and is on track to pass through a zero-intensity on its way to reversing in a mere 1500 years. If we all die in the solar radiation, or kill ourselves off with our own inventions, or get wiped out by a virus, it won't make the slightest difference to the planet or the Universe. The planet will be here until it's smacked with something energetic enough to break it into pieces, or it gets consumed by the dying Sun, or swallowed up in the Big Crunch. Doesn't matter. A million years from now we will either be Homo Superior, as far removed from today's humans as today's humans are from those who first walked upright or we will be Homo Detritus, gone the way of the dinosaurs. Either path cannot be considered anything other than natural. When faced with the Universe, it is utterly foolish to think that we as the human species can make any but the very slightest and short-lived impact on this planet for the "good" or "bad".
Sometimes that realization is good for one’s perspective.
Research, read, and find as many facts as you can on topics that interest you. If you want to drive a hybrid vehicle because it makes you feel like you’re doing your part to save the earth, good for you. There’s nothing at all wrong with being environmentally friendly. I don’t pollute, I recycle, I drive a smaller car so that I can save on gasoline. Just don’t try to make me believe that what I’m doing or what I can do will have any impact on the natural cycle of the planet. Nothing we can do to reverse the Sun’s imminent changes and their effect on the earth.
So, now that you have all of this time freed up from worrying about Global Warming, why not sit back, relax and make some good use of your time….

You need to learn the art of paragraphs, I couldn't get to the end of your rant.
Anyway, you are either wrong or right but missing the opportunity for a better life.

Hi James - I usually can't get to the end of my own rants either - that's why most people complain about me - I just can't shut up.
Oh - I do use paragraphs typically - however, Blogger seems to compress my older posts after a while and I'm just too damn lazy to go back and reformat each one. Nonetheless - I do think I have a pretty good life, weather global warming is real or not.
