OFF THE GRID

In true Bonehead fashion – we’re jetting off to Miami for a few days. Oh, I guess we can justify it as my wife’s birthday gift, but it really still doesn’t make too much sense considering these difficult economic times. Justify it further that travel is down, so the fares and the hotel were highly discounted.

I can justify it all I want – but the simple fact is two unemployed Boneheads are getting on a plane to go marinate  our livers with alcohol while wearing brightly colored linen shirts . Just a bad decision?

Not really.

We’re in what we call our home stretch getting our new business plan ready for launch in January, and have been working hard to get there. Looking forward to getting past all the constructive details and jumping into our new routine. It’s frightening as hell, but oddly enough exciting too. Nobody’s kidding anyone either – it’s going to be tough.

So we figure “what the fuck ?” let’s go let loose for a few days – probably not going to be heading away on any new Giddy Mystery adventures next year. Let’s step away from e-mail, phone calls, websites and computer viruses for a few days and grab some new blog stories. We always run into some low level celebrity to annoy, and the places we’re going are crawling with tons of them looking for some low level publicity from poorly written essays like mine. Should be good for a few laughs, and we’ve already charged the camera batteries.

We’ve got the bar and beer fridge filled up for the house-sitters so we’re not even going to feel guilty this time. Just hoping that our stories are a little funnier than theirs.

Hi Bonehead.
You have a good time there!
Change of scenery and climate is good for the soul and bones.
Will.

Enjoy. You deserve the R&R. My husband and I recently celebrated our 25th anniversary in Jamaica. The prices were great, and we had to get away despite our economic situation, or my lack of employment.

Sounds like a perfectly good reason to go to me. Have a good time

YOU lucky Bastids, I am envious for sure. But like you said, sometimes you just got to get away and enjoy life. Especially after life has been dumping on you for a bit. I hope you can remember some of the fun you're having so you can report back to us.

Don't get to sun burnt and we all wish Christine a very Happy 22nd birthday :-)

Do you think they will kick me out of the hardcore conservative wing of the American Republican Party if they find out that I actually like that song by Eddie Murphy and Rick James? I have been successful at keeping it a secret so far, but...

I have to say it's Eddies best song. Opps it's his only song. Hope you guys are enjoying the Miami heat, we just got blessed with our first snow fall.

Hi Will: Certainly is (was) left sunny and 83 degrees to return to snow and 32 - oh well, was a nice few days.

Lauren: Congrats! And yes - even when times are tough, a little getaway is good to clear your head.

Ann: Thanks - and we did!

MOB: It was fun and happy to report no sunburn - although, oddly for us, no celebrity encounters - but I'm sure some of the other salient details will find there way into a new post - just have to get through the large pile of e-mails which await...Oh, and Chris says Thank You!

We came in with some light snow here - but nothing left this morning.

Hi Fish: I think that this is one of those songs that reside in the land of acceptable guilty pleasures, sort of like Joe Lieberman ;)
